"After working on the railway for a number of years things started to slow down and people were losing there jobs, there was talk of more cuts so I decided it was time to start looking for something else. I had always dreamed of running my own business so started looking online for different trade options, thats when i thought about locksmithing classes to become a locksmith then I came across Train Locksmiths Ltd.
After speaking to the team I went to have a look at the training centre, I was impressed with the set up and the earning potential and signed up for the course in May 2010.
On the first day everyone was picking locks due to Marks excellent teaching skills, all questions were answered in a clear and easy understanding manner. "I am Chris Bingham and have recently achieved the NCFE Level 3 Enhanced Locksmith qualification with Train Locksmiths Ltd. I have been in the Army for 16 years and have spent the last 10 of those as an Instructor in Military Skills and Defence Instructional Techniques.
Due to the extreme cut backs across the MOD, The potential for any service person to complete a full 22 years in the job appears more & more uncertain every day. In order to stay ahead of the cull and prepare for the worse, I needed to formulate ideas regarding what career path to take when the inevitable comes?
I was drawn to investigate the Locksmith trade after chatting to a local locksmith who attended a job on camp. He was there for about 20 minutes & charged an absolute bomb to re programme a digital lock! Shortly after this an onsite locksmith was sent to gain access to an accommodation room to which keys had been lost. It was educational to say the least; after being there for over an hour chiselling, hammering & drilling; he finally gained access. The lock itself had been transformed into what resembled a used figure 11 from an electronic target range at the end of a regimental range package! He told me that I didn't need a course to be a locksmith, (you just need to know where to drill) as he left, I swear he was whistling the tune to Bonanza as he spun and holstered his smouldering cordless drill. Clearly he was no locksmith and he doesn't work there anymore!
I did some intense research, found Train Locksmiths Ltd and called them up. Clearly a good move, Karen & Martin pointed me in the right direction with all the necessary paperwork required and were more than helpful every step of the way. And then there is Mark -
Being an instructor myself it was nice to be the other side of the desk for a change. He is a fantastic instructor who puts every student at ease in a totally relaxed environment with first rate facilities and training aids. Mark made the experience an absolute pleasure by pitching the instruction at just the right level for all.He was able to adjust the teaching style when required and always found a different way to explain the technical aspects so that everyone kept up and grasped the practical application of the subject. Overall, an exceptional, humour packed week with an excellent,experienced instructor who gives 110% to the students.
I would recommend this training centre as the first and last choice for anyone who is thinking of a career as a locksmith. "

Informative, helpful, through, easy to follow and in depth i quickly realised this was the course for me.
I booked a 7 day course and was not disappointed. Starting your first day you realise that its going to be a busy week but a fun and productive week there was only 3 including me in the class which made it a very personal feel and you know your onto a winner when there's a cup of coffee made for you before you even get started. ( and many more to follow through the week which is always good) Mark the instructor set out the plans for the week but said at any point if we needed to slow down or wanted to go over anything we were unsure of then all we had to do was ask. His training technique for me was perfect, easy to follow, very hands on and done in such a way you quickly find things click into place. We had 5 days on domestic locks, cylinder, mortice, padlocks etc then 2 days on car locks which was a massive bonus for me as that's a field of locksmithing i am looking to pursue.
We were given all the tools needed to do the training and the job for real after we had trained but we also were given what i think is a fantastic bonus with trainlocksmiths which is the aftercare. After a great deal of research and soul searching I finally decided to opt for a career within the Locksmith industry and set out on a quest to seek out a good Locksmith training provider; Searching through the internet I came across the Train Locksmiths website and decided to ask for more information about their courses,this was e-mailed to me straight away. The brochure explained the type of courses they could provide, length of courses, it even contained a list of hotels in the area and most importantly for a Yorkshireman the dreaded price!
After a few days I recieved a phone call from a very nice fella called Mark Aldred simply asking me if I had recieved all the information that I had requested and asking if I needed any more info. During the conversation Mark invited me to drop in some time and he would show me around the training facility. I took him up on his offer and was pleasantly surprised both by the welcome I recieved (first question from Mark's son Martin was 'Fancy a brew Brian?' music to my ears!) and the standard of the training facility was amazing.
I returned home both assured and excited at the prospect of changing my career at the age of 56, not exactly a spring chicken! A week later I booked my course starting towards the end of August 2010 and opted for the 7 day locksmith training course which included 2 days auto locksmith course and car entry training. Monday morning arrived, the first day of training and I felt a little apprehensive to say the least having arrived 10 minutes late at the training centre. 'No problem Brian', said Mark and introduced me to my 2 classmates and my bag full of shiny new Locksmiths tools.
I could not believe it, within a couple of hours of arriving at the training centre, here I was picking cylinder locks! Mark with his method of teaching made the task of learning all about locks and the many ways of gaining entry seem so effortless and enjoyable, add to this the insight into the Locksmith trade and all the tips you are given on running your own Locksmith business and you have in my oppinion the most comprehensive, informative and honest to goodness value for money courses available within the U.K. today.

I took him up on his offer and was pleasantly surprised both by the welcome I recieved (first question from Mark's son Martin was 'Fancy a brew Brian?' music to my ears!) and the standard of the training facility was amazing.
I returned home both assured and excited at the prospect of changing my career at the age of 56, not exactly a spring chicken! A week later I booked my course starting towards the end of August 2010 and opted for the 7 day locksmith training course which included 2 days auto locksmith course and car entry training. Monday morning arrived, the first day of training and I felt a little apprehensive to say the least having arrived 10 minutes late at the training centre. 'No problem Brian', said Mark and introduced me to my 2 classmates and my bag full of shiny new Locksmiths tools.
I could not believe it, within a couple of hours of arriving at the training centre, here I was picking cylinder locks! Mark with his method of teaching made the task of learning all about locks and the many ways of gaining entry seem so effortless and enjoyable, add to this the insight into the Locksmith trade and all the tips you are given on running your own Locksmith business and you have in my oppinion the most comprehensive, informative and honest to goodness value for money courses available within the U.K. today.
I cannot emphasise how helpful Mark, his family and all the lads who work at Train Locksmiths, Advanced Locksmiths and Intolocks have been. Knowing that there is always someone on the other end of the phone to give me advice should I need it whilst carrying out repairs or gaining entry to a customers premises gives me the confidence to deal very easily with my customers needs.
